If you’re like me, you probably use to do lists a lot to keep your life organized. Well a while back, I found a great website that can not only be used for to-do lists, but also for outlines for blog posts and book chapters, among other things. It basically takes to-do lists to a whole new level. It’s called Workflowy, and I had used it quite a bit when I was the leader of a focus group that I was part of for my work, because I found it helped me keep my thoughts for the focus group meetings organized, and it also helped me keep the information I wanted to put in our newsletter organized. I got away from using it for a while though after I left the focus group to pursue other things. I recently re-discovered it, and wanted to share with you how I’m using it now.
What is Workflowy?
Workflowy is basically the ultimate to-do list website. You sign up for a an account, and it allows you to make lists that can go many levels deep.
What makes Workflowy unique?
One of the unique things about Workflowy is that you can actually click on any bullet point and open it up in a separate window so that you can look at only the things on that list. You can even star certain bullet points that you want to save. Once you’re done with a certain task or sub-task, all you have to do is hover on the bullet point and select “delete” from the drop down list, and the task or subtask will disappear from the list.
Does it cost anything to create an account?
You can create a Workflowy account for free, and you’ll be able to create up to 750 items per month. If you’re very busy however, you may want to upgrade to the Pro version of Workflowy – this allows you to create unlimited lists, back up your lists to Dropbox, share your Workflowy account with certain people, change themes and fonts, and get premium support from Workflowy when you have questions. Workflowy Pro costs $4.99 per month or $49 per year. If you don’t want to pay for Workflowy Pro, you can get more Workflowy items simply by telling others about it. You can do this by sending an email to them, or by sharing a custom link with them. For anyone who might be interested in Workflowy, here’s my custom link: https://workflowy.com/invite/151e967f.lnx
