A while back, I reviewed Picmonkey, a website for creating different types of visuals, such as banner ads and ebook covers, among other things. Today I wanted to review another design website I’ve used extensively, Canva. This website is similar to Picmonkey because you can use it to create different visuals, such as social media posts, social media page headers, and blog graphics. I’ve used it to create some of the visuals I post on my Facebook pages, such as this infographic that I posted on the Work at Home Tips Online Facebook page a while ago.

You can also use Canva to create other sales and marketing materials though. I’ll provide more information about how to use Canva to create different visuals in this post.
What can you create with Canva?
You can create all sorts of visuals! Some of them include:
- Blog titles
- Facebook posts
- YouTube Channel Art
- Presentations
- Kindle Book Covers
- Blog Graphics
- Cards
- Photo Collages
- Menus
How do you create these awesome visuals?
Just follow this simple process when creating visuals with Canva:
- Go to the type of visual you want to create.
- Choose a template.
- Make any necessary changes.
If you prefer to come up with your own design, you can use the white canvas that’s created by default. Canva makes it easy to choose a layout, add different elements like grids, photos, and frames among other things, then add text and a background.
After you’ve added all the elements and gotten your design just the way you want it, you can share it on social media or email it. You can also download it in JPG or PDF format to use on your website or social media pages, or in your chosen word processing program.
Does Canva cost anything?
Canva is free; however, some of the nicer elements do have a small cost to them. Some of their nicer layouts, elements, and backgrounds cost a dollar each, so if you use them you may end up paying a few dollars for your design. You’ll still pay less to design your own visuals than you would if you hired someone to create the visual for you though. Also, if you decide to upgrade to Canva for Work, it costs $12.95 per month, or $9.95 per month if you decide to pay for a year upfront.
My personal experience with Canva
When I first started using Canva, I found it difficult to use. But, I was trying to create a lot of my own designs, and I have very little design experience. I went through some of Canva’s design tutorials though, and those helped me improve my skills.
This is just a brief overview of Canva and its features. If you’re looking for a website that allows you to create marketing materials and social media posts easily, you should definitely check it out.
