I’m always looking for ways to track my time when I work on different writing projects, or even when I work for Apptical. I’ve used a few different time tracking apps. Recently I found a new one called Timeular. This one is different because there’s an optional Bluetooth device that pairs with it called a ZEI. In this blog post, I’ll explain more about Timeular and the ZEI device.
What is the ZEI device?
The ZEI device is an eight-sided device that connects to your mobile device. You can label the sides with different tasks you need to track.
How much does it cost?
That depends on the package you choose. If you choose the starter package, you’ll pay $99 one time for the ZEI, and that’s it. You’ll have a 14-day money-back guarantee and the device will ship free. It ships with all the accessories you need for it, and the mobile and desktop apps. You’ll be able to access statistics, have API access and software updates. However, you’ll only be able to track 8 activities. If you choose the pro package, you’ll pay $49 one time for the ZEI device, plus $9 per month, per user upfront for six months. You’ll receive all the benefits you receive with the starter package, except you’ll be able to track unlimited activities. In addition, you’ll be able to export data, take advantage of integrations, and receive priority support.
Which integrations can I take advantage of with the Pro Plan?
The ZEI integrates with Toggl, JIRA, and iCal. They’ve had requests for integrations with Freshbooks, Harvest, Trello, IFTTT, Xero, and Gitlab, as well as a few other websites.
Can I use the Timeular App without the ZEI?
Yes, I’ve been using the Timeular Windows App without the ZEI device, and it works great.
How do I use the Timeular App without the ZEI device?
Just download and install the Timeular App. When you start it up add the activities you want to track, and start tracking time.
How do I start and stop the Timeular app on my computer?
When you choose an activity, press the start button for that activity. When you take a break or you’re finished tracking, press the stop button, and Timeular will record your time on the panel to the right.
What if I forget to start or stop the app?
No problem! You can go into the time entries and edit your start and stop times to reflect the actual times you started and stopped working on a project.
Can I make notes on the time entries?
Yes, there’s a place for you to add a note under the timer. You can use these notes to show the projects you worked on, so you have accurate records of how much time you spent working for different clients.
Do I have access to reports?
Yes, you can see how much time you tracked for different activities, as well as for an entire day or week.
What other features does the Timeular app have?
You can also see your productivity level in the Timeular app. According to Timeular’s support website, the formula they use to calculate the productivity level is still in development, but in general, a productivity level above 60% is very good.
