A Review of the Chromebook

I received an Acer Chromebook a few months ago for my birthday, and so far I’m loving it. I’ve been looking for a good way to work on my writing and keep up with social media when I’m not in front of my desktop computer for years, and this is the best tool I’ve found for doing that so far. I’ll explain what I like and dislike about the Chromebook and discuss some extras you’ll definitely want to get if you buy a Chromebook.  [Read more…] about A Review of the Chromebook

Upgrade Your Skills From Home Udemy Courses for People Who Work from Home

August 27, 2018 by Erica Martin Leave a Comment

corner-of-books

Whether you work from home or outside the home, everyone should work on upgrading their existing skills or acquiring new skills.  Acquiring new skills allows you to earn more money, and therefore become more marketable. What if you don’t have a lot of money to spend on college courses or a lot of time to attend them? There are some great online options that cost little or no money. One of the cheaper online alternatives is Udemy. They have some great courses that can potentially help people improve or upgrade their skills. I took a writing course earlier this year from Dave Schools, and the advice he provided in that course has helped me improve my skills and make more money as a writer. There are also other great Udemy courses for people who work from home.  [Read more…] about Upgrade Your Skills From Home Udemy Courses for People Who Work from Home

Happy 4th Birthday Work at Home Tips Online!

August 20, 2018 by Erica Martin Leave a Comment

I didn’t realize it, but this website turned 4 years old on July 8! Or rather, I published my first blog post then. In the beginning, I started with a blog on Blogger or WordPress.com – I honestly can’t remember which one. Then later, I decided to buy the domain workathometipsonline.com. Growth has been slow since then because the time and energy I’ve put into the site has varied since I started it, but here are some interesting stats about how the site has grown

  • I’ve published 111 posts, which have received 24 comments.
  • I started the Work at Home Tips Online Facebook page on May 7, 2015. Posts were sporadic at first, so growth was slow. Once I started posting articles that were relevant to people who work from home, as well as other relevant content, my page started growing. Right now it has 358 likes and is followed by 414 people – not as impressive as some of the work from home blogs I follow, but I’m getting there!
  • I started the Work at Home Tips Online newsletter last October – It was originally called Work at Home Tips Online this Week, but I changed the name to The Weekly Tipster in June of this year. It’s grown from just 7 recipients to 23 recipients. If you’re interested in signing up for the newsletter, you can do so on the form in the right sidebar.

I look forward to continuing to find ways to grow the Work at Home Tips Online community. If you have any ideas for blog posts or ways I can continue to increase my website traffic, please feel free to comment or email me at erica@workathometiposnline.com

Improve Productivity in Google Chrome With Raindrop

August 13, 2018 by Erica Martin Leave a Comment

Recently I read this article, which explained how to set up Chrome for productivity. One extension I learned about that’s helped me increase my productivity is Raindrop. I’ve only been using it for a while, but I’ve found it to be a great way to increase my productivity in Chrome, so I wanted to explain how to install it and set it up on Chrome.  [Read more…] about Improve Productivity in Google Chrome With Raindrop

Keep Track of the Time You Spend on Different Projects with Timeular

July 2, 2018 by Erica Martin Leave a Comment

Closeup of watch

I’m always looking for ways to track my time when I work on different writing projects, or even when I work for Apptical. I’ve used a few different time tracking apps. Recently I found a new one called Timeular. This one is different because there’s an optional Bluetooth device that pairs with it called a ZEI. In this blog post, I’ll explain more about Timeular and the ZEI device.
